Langlois Bridge at Arles (1888)

Only a month after Van Gogh arrived in Arles he painted this bridge. The bridge crosses the Arles canal which connected Arles with Point-du-Bouc. Van Gogh made a number of sketches of the bridge which he included in letters to his brother Theo. Van Gogh made two versions of the bridge, both from a different perspectives. One of them included several women washing clothes in the river.
